Bob Lanham, president of Williams Brothers Construction in Houston, Texas and AGC of America president, has been elected to the National Academy of Construction (NAC) as a member of its class of 2021. He will be formally inducted October 21 during the NAC annual meeting.
In electing Lanham, NAC cited him as a “business and engineering leader with vast experience in project management and contract administration with exemplary executive involvement in national industry associations.”
Wayne Crew, General Secretary of the Academy, said, “Our 2021 class is diverse, experienced, and dedicated. Bob Lanham is a most deserving new member. His leadership and influence stretch across project, executive, and organizational lines. We welcome him.”
Election criteria for NAC is rigorous: leadership, exceptional service, a continued commitment to making a contribution, past recognition by peers for innovation, and being recognized as “best of the best.”
Lanham joined Williams Brothers in 1985 as a project engineer, with a career path that steadily progressed into the executive branch, becoming president in 2013. He has been involved in over 250 projects, including involvement in every aspect of project delivery. He is currently the president of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), an organization with which he has a long and proud affiliation. He served 10 years on the AGC Board of Directors. His service as AGC president began in March 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the AGC leadership requested he serve an additional year, which he gladly accepted. Lanham earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, with honors, from Texas A&M University. After graduation from A&M, he was a combat engineer and paratrooper, achieving the rank of captain, in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
